Backstreet's Back, Alright!

Backstreet Boys were the real deal back in the '90s. Anybody who has been born in the now, does not know that the band was one of the biggest in the world. They have won innumerable awards for their talent and have fans all over the world to this day. In honor of the Backstreet Boys coming to India, let's introduce you, kids, to a thing or two, shall we?

For the unversed, the band was more than just another boy band. It was a group of five talented singers who wrote songs that can still give production houses a run for their money. Their smooth harmonies, flashy stage shows as well as dance routines are something worth looking back at. The little kids might not be aware of their music, which is a shame because their songs are full of heart and meaning.

Not only does it give most of us the feeling of nostalgia, but also makes us want to groove and sing our hearts out with them. For instance, let's take "I Want It That Way".

The song was one of the most popular songs from the band and it was way more than some catchy pop tune. The song will take you through heaps of emotions while making you aware of the complexity of love, and well, relationships.

"Tell me why, ain't nothin' but a heartache. Tell me why, ain't nothing but a mistake."

The ups and downs of love and relationships were talked about by these boys. The message and the beat to be honest are still relevant.

Or let's take another example. How about "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely"? The song talks about the struggles of being lonely while having the melody of a lifetime. It was dedicated to people who have lost a loved one. Again, the lyrics of this song will just be so relatable to you in one way or another. Their lines include,

"So many words for the broken hearted. It's hard to see in a crimson love, so hard to breathe."

Because the topic of loneliness is something we relate to more than other things, this will speak for the loneliness of many people and their experiences. The song is a reminder that we all need love and connection.

How about "Incomplete"? It serves the same purpose as the song above. However, do not mistake Backstreet Boys to be always mushy and gooey all the time. They have hit bangers like "Backstreet's Back", "Everybody, Rock Your Body", "Larger Than Life", and so on and so forth. I will let you do the digging now.

These songs are just a few examples of meaningful and full-of-life songs by the band. They might be seen as a product of their time, however, the themes, as well as the messages that come across, are both timeless and universal. The band opens a window to human experiences that can prove meaningful to people who are just starting to navigate through life.

So, if you are one of these people who haven't really listened to Backstreet Boys, except maybe through TikTok or Reels, it's time. It's time to give them a chance and you might be thoroughly surprised by the little gems that you find in there. Maybe you end up loving a whole new genre, you swore wasn't your taste at all. 🥺
